Our Story Since 1964

In 1964, Troy Brand Jr. started selling mattresses out of a backroom of his father’s grocery store. When he started selling La-Z-Boy and Broyhill chairs and sofas, he needed his own little corner building in downtown Hickory. By the time his sons got into the business, Troy Brand Furniture had enveloped a whole city block selling the biggest names of the day — La-Z-Boy, Broyhill, and Bemco Mattresses.

Troy retired in the mid 80s, leaving the daily operations to sons Bill and Barry. They ran it until 2022, when Troy’s grandson Matthew took over. Troy originated the slogan “Discount Prices Every Day” as his goal was to have sale prices no matter when you shopped. Keeping it a family business and a small operation has left us able to cut costs and keep furniture prices the lowest in the state, just as Troy always championed, letting you continue to shop with the brands you trust!
